The Social Manifestations of Sport and their Behavioral Influences

Overview

To discuss the different manifestations of sport, linking it to social and behavioral perceptions, its interferences and distinct approaches within leisure, performance, and education, its benefits and harms to health in its physical, emotional, and social dimensions, offering a critical perspective on its practice in order to contribute to social sustainability and the consequent improvement of quality of life.

Speaker's background

Paulo Nepomuceno holds a degree in Physical Education from UFRJ and a master's in Local Development with an emphasis on Environmental Education from SUAM. His dissertation, titled “AQUARIOFILIA COMO FERRAMENTA DE EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL NO ENSINO BÁSICO,” was developed at Parque União, a community within the Maré favela complex in Rio de Janeiro (Revista da FAPERJ, 2013). He served as Leisure Coordinator at SESI-RJ and as Physical Education Coordinator at Colégio Metropolitano, a private school network in Rio de Janeiro. He has taught at the Centro Ocupacional Mascarenhas de Moraes, a special education school, and within the Rio de Janeiro municipal school network, where he served as a member of the School-Community Council. He currently teaches at CEFET-RJ, where he has served on the Faculty Council and as Coordinator of the Sport-Work Project and of curricular Physical Education. His approach is grounded in using sport as a tool for shaping the future mid-level professional, developing an approach geared toward health awareness linked to the importance of pursuing social balance through inclusion and respect for diversity.
