Management: The Fundamental Basics
Instructs non-technical staff or those without a degree in business administration who need to understand the fundamental basics of what management means, what it is, and how it can be established within a business organization.
General Objective
Enable the participant, in a broad and general way, to acquire basic theoretical and practical knowledge of management that can help them in the role they currently perform or may come to perform within the organization.
By the end, you'll be able to
- To convey the meaning of administration as a business science applied within organizations, as a tool for ordering, structuring, and improving the processing of activities, plans, programs, and work projects, and for the proper management of human, material, logistical, financial, and technological resources.
- To enable the applicability of administration in what it can provide, at a basic level, regarding the planning, organization, direction, and control of activities carried out by the company throughout its organizational life cycle.
Curriculum
Module I — Introductory Aspects of Business Administration Knowledge
- Definition and etymology of the word administration. Administration as a science, technique, and art. Concepts of governance, direction, management, and leadership. Evolution of administration over time. Object and basic principles of administration. Leading scholars and authors.
Module II — Administration Theories and Movements
- What administration theories and movements are and their importance. Administration theories: prescriptive and normative approaches. Movements in administration.
Module III — Administration Process
- What is meant by the administration process. The diversification of process elements according to various authors. The administration process and its basic elements: planning, organization, direction, and control.
Module IV — Basic and Extra-Basic Instruments and Tools of Administration
- What basic and extra-basic administration instruments are. Organizational tools: organizational and function charts. Process tools: flowcharts, systematization, and block diagrams. Normative tools: structural standards, policies, procedural standards, and service instructions. Extra-basic tools. (16 sessions)
