Business Administration: An Overview

Designed for professionals who work with strategic, tactical, and operational planning in the commercial area and in marketing and sales, as well as in company management, and who need to deepen their knowledge of the operationalization, expansion, or diversification of businesses focused on products, services, investments, and applications.

General Objective

To enable participants, broadly and comprehensively, to acquire basic theoretical and practical knowledge of Business Administration that will help and support them in the role they perform, or will come to perform, within the organization where they work.

By the end, you'll be able to

  • To convey the meaning of Business Administration as a corporate action applied within organizations, aiming to improve the marketing of products and services and to close deals and investments that allow the company to solidify, expand, and become competitive.
  • To enable the effective and efficient application of Business Administration in the commercial planning of marketing and sales, and in the operational, tactical, and strategic planning of investment and expansion.

Curriculum

Module I — Introductory Aspects of Business Administration Knowledge

  • Definition and etymology of the word administration. Administration as a science, technique, and art. Concepts of governance, direction, management, and leadership. Evolution of administration over time. Object and basic principles of administration. Leading scholars. Common practices geared toward setting up and developing businesses. Applicability to Business Administration.

Module II — Introduction to the Definition and Typologies of Business Enterprises

  • Historical origin and evolution of business. Concept and meaning of a business. Classification and typologies of businesses. Examples of success in today's business world. Case study.

Module III — The Business Environment and the Corporate Context

  • What is meant by organizational environment and context. Study and analysis of environmental components. Case study. In-depth activities.

Module IV — The Development and Process of Business Administration

  • Design and development of businesses. The dimensions of a business. The implementation of a business process and its variability. Evaluation and analysis of businesses in terms of required performance and results. Case study.

Module V — Business Strategy

  • Definition and importance of business strategy applied to products, services, investments, and applications. Phases for operationalizing a strategic business. Models or types of business strategies. (4 class hours, 2 sessions)
